Well, I gotta tell you….after pruning the trees, spaying the trees multiple times in the cold weather…I was not too please to see the birds, chipmunks and squirrels raping my poor little trees that I nursed back to health.  So, as I am outta work & could not afford a fancy cherry banger, I went with natural predator in defence of the hard won cherry crop.  Yup, the $19.95 Canadian Tire, plastic owl did the job, but just in case…tied a few cd’s & DVD’s in the trees to scare em away.

I am now a happy camper…

But..the owl did the trick.

Birds got 50% of the crop (tops of the trees are stripped) before I put the owl up, so I have more than enough to do what I want with the remainer of the cherries.  Needless to say, when the cherries are picked, the owl comes down so I can welcome back all the wildlife.  Gotta tell you, is it quite out in the yard now…

I moved to a lovely old farm in Paris Ontario last summer and it seems like every spare moment has been working on one thing or another.  Previous occupants were getting on in age so understandable, the place was let go.  However, I am please with the way is looks now…kinda like a park setting. 

 
We had a Golka Family & Friends party, August 16, 2008. All were welcomed and we had a beautiful pot luck dinner, played some horseshoes & football…Kids entertained us with their tunes.  Thank-you to everyone who pitched in, you made the day a memorable one.
